Welcome to the Teen Center!
Welcome to the Teen Room
The Teen Room is a space created especially for teens ages 12-18 (others can stop by to select books, but only teens can hang out in this room). Miss Gina Vitale is the Teen Services Librarian. Please stop by any time to say hello, write on our whiteboard wall, or share your ideas. Talking, music, and snacks ARE allowed in the Teen Center.
WAYNESBORO READS!
WINTER READING PROGRAM
JANUARY 2019
Join the library for a fun winter reading challenge, where kids, teens, and adults all work together to earn cool stuff for the library!
Our reading group goal is 6000 minutes for the month of January—if we meet our goal, the Friends of the Library will donate new Alienware computers for teens, Oculus Go rigs for kids, and $1000 to revamp the board book section for babies and toddlers! Adults who read will also have the chance to win a gift bag full of Waynesboro treats!
Sign up today at reading.ahmfl.org, and then log in to your account to track your minutes throughout the month. Can’t log online? You can also track your minutes in a winter reading pamphlet from the library, then bring the log back to the library to be included throughout the month.

Teen Computers & Games
The teen center is equipped with four computers for teen use only: two Alienware and two Lenovo all-in-one touchscreen computers with awesome games preloaded. We also have an Xbox Kinect, Wii, GameCube, classic Nintendo, and a variety of video games, board games, & card games. Please see Miss Gina if you have any old games you’d like to donate to the library.
Books
We have a wide variety of popular YA (Young Adult) materials, including fiction, nonfiction, and graphic novels. We also have Game Informer magazine. If you have a recommendation for a book or series you think the library should have, please see Miss Gina.
Volunteering
If you’d like to volunteer at the library, click here to access our Volunteer Application. You can also pick up an application at the Circulation Desk, or talk to Gina if you have questions.
Volunteers can:
Shelve books, keep the library organized, help set up / take down for special events, help with children’s programs (if they are so inclined), and other special tasks.
Please note, if you need volunteer hours for the high school civics class, the deadline to submit your volunteer application is November 30.
Programs
Please visit the library or click on the Calendar tab for dates, times, more information, & other special events like the Chocolate Challenge, Sign Language Classes, Costume Party, Pancake Palooza, ComicCon, Laser Tag events, and more. We also have many ongoing clubs such as Anime Club, Teen Book Club, Young Writers Group, and Art Club. Click an event on the Calendar for more information.
All programs are free and are for teens ages 12-18 only, unless otherwise noted.
Teen Interest Survey
Do you have ideas about programs & events you’d like at the library? Do you have suggestions about books & other materials you think we should have? Would you like to start a club or teach a class yourself? Take the survey to share your ideas & opinions with Miss Gina, and/or join our e-mail list to get notification of upcoming teen events.
What Can Your Library Do for You?
The library gives you free access to these sites. Some are research sites with access to magazine, journal, & newspaper articles that are great for papers & projects. Overdrive and Hoopla offer access to free e-books, e-audios, movies, music, and more! NoveList gives you book recommendations based on your past favorites, and Mango teaches you new languages. Check out Power Library for even more options. Most of these sites will ask you to enter your library card barcode number to continue.
If you do not have a card, stop by the library to get one! It takes about five minutes and is free.
You need a photo ID that shows your current address (or, bring your photo ID plus an official document or piece of mail that does show your current address). If you do not have a Drivers License or other photo ID, you can use your school ID.
