Chicken Scratch Embroidery

  • Alexander Hamilton Memorial Free Library 45 East Main Street Waynesboro, PA, 17268 United States (map)

Come join us to learn how to chicken scratch embroidery and make this lovely bookmark. Why is it called chicken scratch? One theory is that the main stitch looks like a chicken's track. One story suggests the technique started during the Great Depression when a woman wished she could add lace to her plain gingham dresses. She only had some floss, so she set about to figure out how to create a lacy look.

Registration is required on or before Wednesday, August 11th. You can stop by the library or give us a call to register. There is no set charge for this class; however, we will accept donations the day of the class to help defray costs.
